Young Padawan Learner

I have to say that I'm a Star Wars fan.  My husband introduced me to it when we first got married.  The recent movie, The Force Awakens, wasn't what I expected, but the more I watch it the more I enjoy it.  I just watched it the other day and at the end where Rey is dueling Kylo Ren, it totally reminded me of our daily battle with satan.  Rey is new at this and she's not quite sure of what's even going on except that he's bad and trying to kill her.  The moment that they're standing still for that moment, he opens his mouth and lies just pour out.  He says that he can teach her the force and that word triggers something in her mind.  She takes a deep breath and lets the force overcome her.  After that, she's supercharged and ready to go.  She doesn't kill him but she sure kicked his butt.

We all try fighting life on our own.  Most of the time we fail or make things worse.  You know what we're missing?  We're missing the force!  God is our force, the Holy Spirit is our force, Jesus is our force.  Without Him, I fail miserably.  He recently showed me this with all my anxiety going on.  I was trying to combat it in my own strength.  When I do it myself, I'm overcome and defeated, that leaves the door wide open for satan to come and attack.  When I ask God for His strength, you won't ever see me on the ground, you won't ever see me gasping for breath as I'm dueling satan.  You will see me confident, strong, persistent, and winning.  After I realized this and asked God for help, all my anxiety vanished without a trace.  I'm locked in His embrace, I'm under His hand, protected.

Just like Rey, my journey is only getting started.  I'm a young padawan learner right now.  Every battle I fight, God is right there with me fighting by my side.  He will give me victory every time.  I see so many people battling depression and anxiety, loss of loved ones, being bullied, feeling unworthy, and the list goes on.  We are defeated!  We don't realize what's right in front of us, we don't realize the power and victory over our problems!  We sit and we die inside a little everyday.  We watch ourselves wither away like we are nothing!  We cry oceans of tears fearing the worst, and the last place anyone ever looks for help is the one person who is with us the entire time!  Wake up!!!  God loves you, God loves me!  He's waiting for you to look up and ask for help.  He keeps reaching His hand down and yelling your name.  He wants to help you when you feel lost, unloved, worthless, depressed, anxious, lonely, rejected, abandoned....

What we all don't realize is that He was there too.  He was rejected, abandoned, lied to, betrayed, tempted, beaten, bullied, and hung on a cross to die...
"He knows
He knows
Every hurt and every sting
He has walked the suffering
He knows
He knows
Let your burdens come undone
Lift your eyes up to the one
Who knows
He knows..."  (Jeremy Camp- He Knows)

God knows you better than anyone ever could.  He created you!  Stop trying to hide from Him, you can't hide from Him.  He wants to help you, all you have to do is ask.  This is my reminder everyday that there's no way I can do this on my own.  I grew up keeping everything bottled up, thinking that I needed to be tough and strong.  I grew up trying to battle things alone.  Being alone is the worst feeling ever.  I don't believe anyone truly likes being alone, that's not how God created us.  The awesome thing is that you are not and don't have to be alone.  God brought me to an amazing church, and once I realized that the church is here to help each other, it changed my life.  "Where two or more are gathered, I am with you."  Being in God's presence is phenomenal, there's nothing better in life.

So every morning when I get up, I'll be sure to remind myself that I'm not alone.  That God loves me and He's here to help me.  I will lay my problems at His feet, I will walk away, and I will watch Him work miracles in my life.  He's always faithful!...
