Speak And Believe...

"You have increased the nation, O Lord, You have increased the nation...You have enlarged all the borders of the land."  Isaiah 26:15

This was our devotion this morning.  When Isaiah said this, he was speaking in faith.  The nation hadn't increased yet and the borders hadn't been enlarged.  Faith is seeing what the eye as yet cannot see and already rejoicing in it.

Last night as I put Tyler to bed and we said our prayers, he kept saying he was scared.  I tell him every single night that there's nothing to be afraid of, God is here with us and protecting us while we sleep.  Tonight was different.  I felt God telling me to take a different approach, obviously what I was doing wasn't working.  I have been learning that to renew your mind, you have to repeat positive phrases over and over again until you start believing and remembering it.  So I told Tyler.  Hey, you're not scared.  He said mom I am!  By this point he was crying.  I held his hand and I told him to repeat I'm not scared.  He repeated it several times and the tears stopped and he laid his head down on his pillow.  I didn't hear anything else from him the rest of the night.

Do you find yourself saying, "I'm stressed, I'm anxious, I'm depressed, I'm tired, etc."?  I do all the time.  Do you realize those are negative thoughts?  Those are NOT thoughts from God.  Those are thoughts that satan wants you to repeat over and over and over until you're so far from God that it's going to take a lot of effort and work to get back to Him.  This is what I'm dealing with right now, this is what God has brought to my attention to work towards this year.  You have to stop saying those things.  When you say them, you believe them, then your body starts acting on them.  Your brain controls every aspect of your body, so what you think, your body reacts immediately to and tells your body to act accordingly.

Did you know that when you're stressed, your body produces and releases toxic chemicals inside of you?  That's why you feel so sick when you're stressed.  Stress lowers your immune system on top of that as well.  You can be the healthiest most fit person, but if you stress about anything, you're still hurting yourself.  Why do you think God says, "cast all your cares upon Me."?  This is why.  We hurt ourselves by worrying and stressing.  If I die before I'm supposed to, it will be because of stress.  How sad is that?  I'm shortening my life that God intended to be long and fulfilled, all because I refuse to give things to Him that I can't afford to hang onto.

Some things that I have posted around the house to tell myself daily are:
1. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
2. God loves me unconditionally.
3. I am loved.
4. I am valuable and precious.
5. I am talented and gifted.
6. I'm capable and powerful.
7. I am wise.
8. I am redeemed.
These are just a few of the things that are positive and hopeful that I need to tell myself more of on a daily basis.  The best part is, they are all true!  God tells me so in His Word.

So, the fact is, Isaiah stepped out on faith speaking and believing things would happen.  You have to claim it in the name of Jesus.  If you need healing, believe that God will heal you.  Claim the healing over yourself in Jesus name.  If you are afraid, tell yourself, "I will NOT live in fear."  The key is believing.  Take control of your thoughts, reign them in.  You don't have to let your emotions control you, you can stop any bad thoughts that come into your mind.  God says to take them captive.  Satan wants you to think that things are out of control and that you can't control yourself or your emotions.  That's a lie from the father of lies.

These are all things that I want Tyler and Ethan to have in their toolbox as they grow older.  This is so important to know as you go through life.  People do things and even bad things because they don't think they can control themselves.  It's called self-discipline.  I'm so thankful that God is showing me all this while I'm 28 and not when I'm nearing the end of my life.  God has shown me much of this through His Word and Joyce Meyer.  She is a strong advocate for taking control of your thoughts and emotions.  I never would've thought that I could control those things.  I always played the "I can't help how I'm feeling" card.  I wouldn't be where I am if I had continued to think that.  You have to stop being the victim, stand tall and strong and claim this victory for yourself!

There's a song I love called "Lions" by Skillet.  It says, "If we're gonna stand, we stand as giants, if we're gonna walk, we walk as lions."  God gives us the victory every single day.  I say we start living like we're victorious!  We were created for more than this.  God always gives you a way out of a tough situation.  Take His hand and let Him guide you.  Believe that He wants every good thing for you, because it's true!  He wants to see your smile everyday, He wants to see you overcome the trials thrown at you, He wants to see you live in the victory that His only Son died for.  Claim it and live it!

" If we're gonna fly, we fly like eagles
Arms out wide
If we're gonna fear, we fear no evil
We will rise
By your power, we will go
By your spirit, we are bold
If we're gonna stand, we stand as giants
If we're gonna walk, we walk as lions
We walk as lions."
